Happy New Year! I hope your head feels better than our Toronto Humane Society foster cat, Biscuit’s does this morning. (Too much catnip last night.)
Introducing our latest foster cat, Biscuit.
Biscuit is a big cat. She weighed over 20 lbs. when she was brought to the Toronto Humane Society with a severely fractured front leg. The amazing vets at THS have installed hardware that they hope will allow the bone to heal and avoid having to amputate Biscuit’s leg.
Regardless, she needs to lose some weight, both for her overall health (10 lbs. is generally considered a healthy weight for cats) and also to relive the stress on her leg bones. It’s slow going because it’s hard to burn calories when it’s difficult to move around. But we’re making progress. In the almost two months we’ve had her, Biscuit has lost 2.5 lbs. and she is beginning to put more weigh on her injured leg.
The road to recovery is long, but Biscuit is a bright-eyed, loving kitty that will eventually need an adopter that’s willing to help her continue that journey.
If you are interested in adopting Biscuit please contact the Toronto Humane Society.
Our foster kitten, Lotus, was recently adopted. Though we are sad to lose his never-ending repertoire of cute antics from our daily routine, we are happy that he’s now brightening-up lives in a forever home.
Bernard is our latest foster cat. He had a rough start in life. His previous owners claimed he was being aggressive so they kept him outside in a tiny crate for months. As a result he is slow to trust new people. But once he feels safe with you he will never leave your side. If you’re looking for an isolation buddy during the COVID-19 lockdown contact the Toronto Humane Society to inquire about adoption.
Meet our latest arrivals, Bourbon Street and Mardi Gras. These two party kitties may look ready to drop the hottest album of the Summer, but they are quite shy and have come to us for socialization to human interaction. It’s early days but they are slowly starting to warm-up to having us hang around their jam sessions.
