About

Eric’s first camera, a simple 35mm point-and-shoot, was given to him by his parents shortly before he left to spend several months hitch-hiking through Europe.

It travelled with him to sixteen countries and captured the landscapes, the people and the many wild rides he experienced along the way.

He returned from that trip with two loves that would shape the rest of his life: photography and travel.

Eric went on to study film, photography and new media at York University. After graduating in 2002, he was fortunate enough to enter the Toronto photo industry at a moment when the technological shift from film to digital capture was beginning to gather steam.

Over the past decade, Eric has participated in this transition process first-hand by aiding photographers as they adopted their own capture, delivery and archival workflows. He has run digital capture on numerous commercial and editorial sets in Toronto, as well as more ‘exotic’ locations such as a fishing boat on the Bay of Fundy, the beaches of Florida and even the Great Wall of China. Eric posts a quarterly Tech Update that details recent on-set challenges and provides tips for ensuring smooth digital capture (email subscription available HERE).

Wherever he travels Eric always brings his camera. His own photography tends toward urban landscapes, documentary street photography and personal travelogues. Eric’s appreciation for digital photography extends from the high to the lo-fi. Since 2009 he has maintained a daily photo blog, TheDailyMobile, to showcase his mobile phone photography.

Eric lives in Toronto’s east-end with his wife, makeup artist Diana Carreiro.
